Expertise

Experienced consultants and researchers offer rigorous analysis and practical policy advice on a range of topics, including water demand management, regional business development, industry clusters, networks and value chains. CRIC’s state-of-the-art survey research facilities provide timely and effective solutions for community consultation, evaluation, market research and strategic initiatives. CRIC also offers inclusive, action orientated solutions for organisational and community planning.

CRIC has expertise in:

  • Future search and scenario planning in the private and public sectors; application of six sigma in strategic planning; sustainability strategies and water futures; clustering and regional economic development; processes of innovation and venture creation in small and large enterprises; technology transfer and knowledge management; spin-off enterprise development from research and incubation.
  • Methodological and content knowledge in the areas of business models, entrepreneurship, marketing and strategy, especially as it relates to small and medium enterprises. We have developed that knowledge through academic research, through teaching (in undergraduate, postgraduate and professional development programs run through the University), as well as through applied consulting projects.
  • Well developed research skills, together with the capacity to present research in a clear and intelligible way. All team members are experienced researchers; familiar with both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Apart from action research and future search methodology expertise, CRIC heads up the University’s Survey Research facility, with particular expertise in the development and delivery of surveys, and multivariate analysis of survey results. The survey research facility utilises the latest technology, including computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) technology and on-line delivery systems. Much of our research activity is ‘applied’ in its focus, directed towards solving real life problems experienced in organisations.
  • Excellent project management skills, and a demonstrated capacity to complete projects on time and on budget.

Demonstrated capacity

Team members for CRIC projects bring together:

  • an understanding of the industry sector;
  • comprehensive knowledge of development;
  • current and future planning;
  • management and evaluation practices;
  • well-developed survey development and research skills;
  • and a demonstrated track record in commercial consulting.
